Dear Mr. Shaw
Ralph was duly impressed by the 69 & greatly interested in the new developments re your musical contracts.  Have you read Dunhill on Stanford in the Music Student – I suppose not but because kind mention is made that Ralph was a pupil of Stanford’s he had it sent as a press cutting & we have enjoyed it.  It abounds in “it behoves us”, “This gives us pause”, a kind of suburban sententiousness (I can’t spell this).
I have been thinking about your brother Jules.  I am sorry he thinks he must enlist under the circumstances, for there he is – a fine actor – & it will be adding to all your anxieties.  I did not see much of Ralph as he was off at 6 am on Sunday for a 30 mile ‘staff’ march w^h being voluntary was shirked by all the officers & he & 3 others were the only participators.
He was vaccinated yesterday.
