Westcott Road,
Dorking.

Wed [5th September 1934]

Dear Maud

Its awful – But there is just a chance I shall not be able to come on the 16th – I had to have the wretched thing opened up again about a week ago & though all goes v. well, yet he won’t promise any date at which I shall be moveable – tho’ personally I think it is quite safe that I shall be well.
Now shall I write a screed for you to read if I’m not there – or is that no use? and any way what am I to write about – do help me – I’ve not an idea in my head – don’t say “what you like” that’s no use to me.
Yrs
