The White Gates.
March 5 [1939?]
Dear Joyce & Gerald
We have just been celebrating a wedding – not in Dork[ing] this time1 but in London. Bob2 has taken this great step and we think it is a good step. We like his Eileen – she is 23 – dark & charming & very direct. She seems to understand Bob – She is not a communist or any ’ist – has been on her own. He is quite sure that domesticity is going to be the right thing for him. I told Bob that I should write to you.
I hope you will see them both before very long.
When do you pass through? for surely yr house is nearly finished now?3
Love from us
