The White Gates
Dorking

August 5 [1949]

Dear Mrs Sheppard
We are feeling a little anxious about the records of the 6th symphony because some other records ordered at the same time have not come. Of course we want you to have the records to take with you. Have you decided when you are leaving for S. Africa? Will you kindly let me know?
I had a good letter from your husband – His post and the White Cottage are not threatened so far and I am so glad.
How right you were to believe that all would be well.
I look back with such pleasure to your visit.1
Yours
AM Vaughan Williams
