Dear Evangeline
Thankyou so much for your letter. I still feel sorry about it1 – I feel that if we once drop out it will never revive under us & then it will revive under some other organisation & we shall have no hold over the quality [?} of the music – I think that (probably owing to my bad writing) you misunderstood the passage – I did not say that it was pedantic to have a competition – but to think it necessary to have a competition merely because we call ourselves “C”2
