I have no objection to your issuing the songs if, as I say, the date of composition is printed on the copies. Re-writing them would not help matters. There is nothing particularly wrong with them technically – they are only, to me, rather characterless.

Probably referring to Adieu and Think of me; see VWL5061, and other correspondence in the Boosey & Hawkes archive of this period. The two songs had been published in 1903 in The Vocalist; Boosey & Hawkes reissued them under the title ‘Two Old Airs’ in 1933. -
