Letter from Ursula Vaughan Williams to Martin Shaw

Letter No.: VWL4198

25 September, 1958

Martin dear, Joan tells me you have now decided to have gout in the most transcendental form – is it from an over indulgence in ambrosia & honey dew?  If so, how unfair of the muses who shouldn’t allow any after effects.
Ralph loved this shifty old pope1, who we found in Naples, wearing the most exquisite rose coloured velvet, so I send him to bring you my love
Ursula.
