1.  UVW enclosed a letter from a young composer, John South (see VWL2988), dated 30 October: ‘Thank you very much indeed for your letter and introduction to the Kennedies.  It will be most helpful to know some people in the musical world who know Manchester, and I shall be very interested to meet them.  The above address is a temporary one, but I will write again when we are all settled up here and know how we are placed.
