Byard organised (and played the piano at) two VW Birthday Concerts at 3 pm and 7 pm in Cirencester Parish Church on 12 October 1946, with the Jacques String Orchestra, Corinium Singers, and Leon Goossens. Works at the afternoon concert included the Fantasia on a theme of Thomas Tallis, Oboe Concerto, Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus, and the 100th Psalm.
