From A R. Vaughan Williams,
The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking.

Friday [May 1935?]

Dear Joyce

It was lovely to see your cowslips again and to smell them. Thank you both. Have you found a house? Rumour says that the Blows1 want you to build near them.
We have just got through our Dorking Festival. Ralph a little tired – but well.
Bob is working hard for the next exam & he has given up worrying about communism – for the moment anyhow – which I am thankful for.2
Love from us
