Dear Vaughan Williams

I cannot go to bed without writing you a few words to say how enormously I enjoyed your work. “Magnificent” is the only word I can think of that conveys my feelings.  It stands for me among the four really great choral works.  It is jolly of you to have written it.1
Yours ever

Arthur Somervell
