Dear Sir

I am obliged for your list of dates of rehearsals and hope to be able to attend them.  I am anxious to hear some of the other works being rehearsed as well – especially Symphony (R.O. Morris)1 and Symphonic Ballad (Hadley)2
Would it be possible for me to be admitted to the rehearsal of these as well?3
Yours faithfully

R Vaughan Williams

1. R.O. Morris’s Symphony in D, dedicated to VW, was to be given in a BBC concert on 1st January 1934.
2. The Trees So High for baritone, chorus and orchestra. The date given for this work in The New Grove Dictionary of Music is 1931 but it was clearly written by the end of 1930.
3. Notes on the original indicate that this request was referred to Adrian Boult who agreed to it.
