Dear Joyce

Very disappointing for us – but we must make a special afternoon visit to you. We will try to anyhow.
Ralph had a letter from Marian Scott. She has seen Ivor G.¹ & finds him very ill – tho’ he may live some time he will not recover.
If his consent or approval about publication is wanted R thinks no time should be lost. He is writing to M. Scott – also to Foss² who from M. Scotts letter is ‘interested’ in the scheme for publishing the songs.
Of course you may know all this & anything that is possible to be done has already been done by you, but R – like you – doubts Marian Scott doing anything – and thinks you may like to know that he is writing to her & to Foss.

R listened in to Howard’s piece³ missed some of the 1st movement admired the slow movement. Morris⁴ listened in I know.

2. Hubert Foss, Head of Oxford University Press Music Department.
3. The first performance of the orchestral version of Howard Ferguson’s Partita, op.5, conducted by Adrian Boult, had been broadcast on the BBC on 29th June.
