You were the only one of my girl-friends who wrote to me on my birthday. It was sweet of you.
I opened your Herrick & read
“We shall grow old apace and die
before we know our liberty”¹.

I saw my poet friend² & am sending him your poems to look at. Not the sonnet which I keep. But I think “Native wood notes wild”³ for you every time.
