My Dear

Thank you for the timely present & for your father’s address which may be very useful.1
I know the Blake poems well – but I’ve never felt tempted to set him. I do not expect you ever got my letter written to you c/o Maud to tell you that we have lost our beloved Honorine – she was killed in an air raid on London about a 4t night ago.2
I know she had a very happy 6 months married and that is what I wanted for her so much.
Love fr

1. Ursula Wood’s father, Major-General Sir Robert Lock, was working in the Ministry of Supply in Ottawa and in a position to help with problems over interned musicians. See R.V.W.: a biography, p.237.
2. VW had apaprently already written to UW about Honorine’s death, asking her to tell Maud – see VWL1437.
