Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Ursula Wood
Letter No.: VWL1531
[8 April 1941]
My Dear
What a lovely poem – I will wait till the last minute for a fine day (Middeton’s advice).1
But today I dropped 400 potatoes into holes under directions of the gardener – & shall do the rest tomorrow.
I actually listened in to part II of Matt: Pass2 yesterday afternoon!
Love from
RVW
and that lovely card with the little men sowing!
1. C.H. Middleton gave gardening talks on the BBC Home Service as part of the ‘Dig for Victory’ campaign.
2. Bach’s St Matthew Passion.
