I had already guessed it was you and wrote accordingly¹ – Now, your welcome letter has come – & I thank you & your helper once more.  Please remember me to D^r & M^rs  Page – I expect great things of his professorship.²  I hope that you are writing something bigger than incidental music – But as you say the natural tendency is to write in terms of the available material.
– I think the BBC ought to do more music from N.Z. & Australia.  I think the American broadcasts were largely political – but I heard a lot of music I enjoyed very much – As regards Britten I find great power and character in his music – he is undoubtedly very exploited by B & Co³ – but up to the present he has stood up well to it.
