– I have no recollection of the “easier” 4tet for pipes but I had better look at it if it exists if she will send it to me.²

1.  String Quartet no.2, CW 1944/2, and Oboe Concerto, CW 1944/1, both published in 1947.
2.  OUP were about to publish VW’s Suite for Four Pipes, CW 1939/3, written for the Pipers’ Guild Summer School, Chichester, in August 1939.  The representative of the Pipers Guild, Miss Calthrop, had apparently recalled an ‘easier’ version but had been vague about it.
