THE LETTERS OF RALPH VAUGHAN WILLIAMS

Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Alan Frank (OUP)

Letter No. VWL2172

Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Alan Frank (OUP)

Letter No.: VWL2172

The White Gates,
Dorking, Surrey.

10th January, 1951.

Thank you for the letter.
I do not think I feel inclined to write for the organ, but see my letter in next week’s “Sunday Times” – that is, if they put it in.
I return Mr. Bigg’s letter herewith.1
By the way I have written two, or I think, three times to Alan Rawsthorne care of you and can get no answer. Can you suggest to me how I can get hold of him?
Yrs
R Vaughan Williams

(R. Vaughan Williams).

1. Frank had sent VW a letter which had been received by the OUP’s American Agent, Lyle Dowling , from the organist E. Power Biggs thanking Dowling for the present of  Foss’s Ralph Vaughan Williams: a study, which had just been published. Biggs said that he wished VW had written more organ music. The letter sent to the Sunday Times may possibly have been about the Royal Festival Hall organ?
