I listened in on Thursday, and am very glad I did. It is a fine work and came through fairly clearly on my machine. But I enjoyed the Duo even more. We had it through three times.1

1. Maconchy’s String Quartet No. 6 (1950) played by the Macgibbon String Quartet, was broadcast on the Third Programme at 11 pm on Thursday 13 March. That was the only work, so there must have been an occasion when the Duo for violin and ‘cello (1951) was performed live for VW.
