Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Roy Douglas
Letter No.: VWL2763
10, Hanover Terrace, N.W.1.
[early February 1954]
Dear Roy,
It is grand to think that the vocal score1 is with the engravers – Now as to the full score – that will no be wanted till September or end of August – so there [?is no] hurry – so will you do it at your leisure & not let it stand in the way of your work
p.s. v.s.
p.s. I mean of course that the 1st perf: will be in Sept.
p.s. I have a feeling that it is going to be popular – but am afraid that the elaborate orchestration will stand in its way – will my cues (with additions by you perhaps) be enough or ought we to have another version for school orchestras – If so wd you do one?
Yrs
