Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Guthrie Foote (OUP)

Letter No.: VWL2776

The White Gates,
Dorking,
Surrey.

15th July, 1948

Dear Mr. Foote1,

I return herewith the proof of the title pages of my Symphony.2 I do not altogether like the colour, but I suppose that can’t be helped. That browny-grey colour which you always used to do my works is what I prefer, and I think people are accustomed to that outside.
I suppose that the dedication to Michael Mullinar is on the first page of the music, but I cannot remember. Please assure me about that.
Yours sincerely

R. Vaughan Williams
