We look forward to seeing you on Monday 4.30 – as we are going to the dress rehearsal – would you like to pick us up at the Arts? We shall be there all the afternoon I suppose – otherwise at the Garden House Hotel.²

1. English and Scottish popular ballads, collected by the American Francis James Child, first published in parts 1882-1898. This is still the definitive collection of the texts. This request is probably an indication of the beginnings of work on Thomas the Rhymer.
