Dear Frank,

I have several letters from you and John Warrack, which I take in order.
1. The book I asked you to find for me was by Pullen Jackson. I cannot remember the name of the American Publishers at the moment, or the exact title, which I sent him, by¹  the O. U. P. is mentioned as being the English agent.²
2. Thank you very much about the Royalties. My bank is, The Westminster Bank, Chelsea Branch, 224 King’s Road S.W.3.³
3. I will do my best to make an organ piece for you, and note it must be a festive one.⁴
4. Will you be so kind as to deal with the enclosed from Mr. Kenneth Faulkner.

1. Recte ‘but’.
2. Amongst a number of books which VW had asked Oxford University Press to find for him was a title White Spirituals from the Southern Appalachians which John Warrack had been unable to trace (see VWL2843). George Pullen Jackson’s book was in fact White Spirituals in the Southern Uplands, published at Chapel Hill, North Carolina, in 1933.
3. VW had asked OUP to pay his royalties directly into his bank while he was in America.
4. Possibly this was eventually the Toccata on ‘St David’s Day’ in Two Organ Preludes founded on Welsh folk songs, Catalogue of Works 1956/3.
