Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Leonard Smith

Letter No.: VWL2945

The White Gates,
Dorking,

26th January, 1949.

Dear Mr. Smith,

Thank you very much for your letter.  I shall be glad to accept you1 kind offer to let me have the instrument on trial before I finally settle.  My chief difficulty at present with my old machine is with the Third Programme, where the interference from what I am told is a North African station, makes it almost impossible for me to make any use of it.
Do you think your instrument would be able to eliminate that?2
In reply to your query, the current is D.C. and the voltage 230.
Yours sincerely,

R. Vaughan Williams
