Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Alan Fluck

Letter No.: VWL3030

From R. Vaughan Williams,
The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking.

January 14th 1954.

Dear Mr Fluck,
Sorry for the delay. The arrangements seem very good. I note a slight mistake in the flute and oboe, page 3, bar 2. Also you have altered the tune page 3, bars 5 & 6. Did you do this on purpose? I don’t mind in the least.1
Your idea of a school opera sounds attractive. But whether I shall ever be able to get so far as thinking of it I don’t know.

Yours sincerely,
R Vaughan Williams

1. See VWL3029; Fluck had apparently sought approval for arranging Hugh the Drover.
