Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Porter Kier

Letter No.: VWL3081

From R. Vaughan Williams,
10, Hanover Terrace,
Regents Park,
London, N.W.1.

April 18th 1955.

Dear Mr Kier,1

Thank you very much for your kind and appreciative letter. I am not one of those people who pretend to be superior to praise, at all events when it is given with understanding, as yours is. We have never yet met, and perhaps never shall, but I feel that we have already made friends through music.
Yours sincerely,

R. Vaughan Williams.

1. Porter Kier, a VW enthusiast of Arlington, Virginia, at the time (but later of Lottsburg Virginia), sent a copy of this letter to UVW in March 1966.
