I am ashamed to find that I never wrote to you and your orchestra for one of the finest “Jobs” ever.¹ Perhaps my excuse may be that I had over 50 birthday letters & telegrams to answer.

1. Boult had conducted the BBC Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Job at the Royal Albert Hall on October 12 for VW’s 77th birthday.
