Thank you both for that lovely scarf and for remembering my birthday.  We had a good time in B’ham¹ and very fine performances – everyone most kind and hospitable. Tomorrow we are off to Cork.² Life seems very full just at present.

1.  Birmingham where VW had conducted his Serenade to Music and had heard the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra play his Fourth Symphony on 11th October – see R.V.W.: a biography, p.366.
