Another nice letter from you.  We hadn’t thought of coming up for the recording – & I don’t think we shall, unless there’s an SOS from John – but if we do, we’d love to see you and spend an evening with you at home.¹ It would make a trip to Manchester worth while.  But there’s been so much going away this year, that I’m selfishly inclined to say j’y suis, j’y reste.
Ralph has mowed the lawn, & reads Pickwick aloud. While I mend the launders²  ravages on the linen – & the garden is full of flowers.
