Dear Mr Morris,

The note now is E NATURAL.  It was originally F, but I altered it.  Please, as you say, have it changed in your next re-print.  And would it be possible, if any copies are bought, to have the note altered by hand in the present edition?  I am sorry the new recording has got it wrong.¹

1. Morris had written reporting that Hugo Ottaway, who was writing the sleeve note for a recording of the Fourth Symphony conducted by Dmitri Mitropoulos, found that the final note of the second movement, in the flute part, was F and not the E natural to which VW had changed it in 1952. He asked VW to confirm, for when the score was reprinted, that E natural was still what he wanted.
