Letter from Alan Bush to Ursula Vaughan Williams
Letter No.: VWL3705
October 27th, 1958.
Mrs. R. Vaughan Williams,
10, Hanover Terrace,
Regent’s Park,
N.W.1.,
Dear Mrs. Vaughan Williams,
It has come to my notice that the important book “National Music” by your late husband has been allowed to go out of print. I wrote to the Oxford University Press on this subject and they replied that “there is no likelihood of its being reprinted.”
I feel that this is a very great loss and wondered whether it would be possible to get some publisher such as Penguin Books to republish it. I am writing to ask whether you could sugggest the best way of making this proposal, for I am sure you would share the general wish to see this book again available.
I remain,
Yours very sincerely,
