Letter from Alan Bush to Ralph Vaughan Williams
Letter No.: VWL3740
November 6th, 1940
Dear Dr. Vaughan Williams,
In reply to your letter of October 31st, unfortunately I have no direct personal knowledge of the musicians you mention. I have, however, been in touch with Dr. Ernst Meyer the musicologist, who is a reliable source of information on this matter. He knows personally and highly recommends from the point of view of musical distinction the following: Dr. Hans Heimler, Otto Huettenbach, and Max Wolf.
I believe that Dr. Meyer is in some way connected with your committee. I am sorry that I am not in a position to give a more personal opinion than this.
Yours sincerely,
-
