Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Stanley Godman

Letter No.: VWL3813

November 23rd 1955.

Dear Mr Godman,

Thank you for your interesting letter. The words you quote are very much like the ones I heard. I wonder if the tune is the same?

I am so glad you like my setting of Sweet Day: I feel sure it will go well on recorders.

I collected some very good folk songs at Rodmell, including the tune which I call by that name in the English Hymnal.

Yours sincerely,

R Vaughan Williams1
