Westcott Road,
Dorking.

Dearest Grace
I’m so sorry I cdn’t see you & comfort you those 2 days. I wanted to so much.
Alas musicians have to do horrid jobs to earn a living (even possibly in Vienna!) & that’s that – & perhaps it will go on to something better
Is it not perhaps the wonderful light hearted days of studentship, which can never come back, which you are weeping for & which Vienna only typifies. Perhaps a Vienna of rapacious & tyrannous jewish employees & miserly people who want English lessons & won’t pay for them, & operatic intrigues would be a different Vienna.
At all events try & comfort your self with this when you get any of your Wesleyans.
For me I am glad you are coming to London, because I shall see you again soon – Meanwhile go on writing me letters, I love them
Love from
Uncle Ralph
