Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Alexander Burnard
Letter No.: VWL3987
From R. Vaughan Williams,
10, Hanover Terrace,
Regents Park,
London, N.W.1.
December 26th 1953
Dear Burnard,
Thank you so much for your letter. As you have guessed Ursula Wood and I were married last February. You may know some of her poetry, among other things we collaborated in our contribution to the Garland for the Queen.1
I am very much interested in your news, and that things go well with your work. I did not see Goossens when he was in London, as you know I move very little in “musical circles”. People are much shocked when they find that I have not got a photogravure of Beethoven hanging up in my study!
Please give my respectful love to Phyllis, and wishes to you both from us both for a happy new year.
Yrs
R Vaughan Williams
