Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Martin Shaw
Letter No.: VWL4253
From R. Vaughan Williams,
10, Hanover Terrace,
Regents Park,
London, N.W.1
August 19th 1958.
Dear Martin,
I like God’s Grandeur very much.1 The only place I am doubtful about are the “wrong notes” (E flat against E natural) near the end. You are to good and great a composer to have to resort to that sort of thing. I like the little anthem as well, but not quite so much.
I do hope you are getting on well now.
Love to Joan
