Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Nadia Boulanger

Letter No.: VWL4262

From R. Vaughan Williams,
The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking.

October 26 [1936]

Dear Madlle Boulanger
I was delighted to get your kind letter and am so pleased that you think well of Stanley.1 He himself has written me happily and hopefully – of all your goodness to him and of how he is going to try to deserve it.
I feel sure that he has now met  possibly the one person who can guide his rather wayward genius.
It will be a great pleasure to meet you when you come to England and I shall like very much then – if you will allow it – to discuss Stanley’s future. Please let me know your address when you come to London.
Yours very sincerely
R Vaughan Williams

1. Stanley Bate. VW had taught Bate at the Royal College of Music and recommended him as a pupil to Boulanger. See VWL4257 and VWL4258.
