Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Alan Frank

Letter No.: VWL4309

The White Gates,
Dorking,

11th December, 1947.

Dear Frank,
Thank you very much for the music, for which I enclose 12/4
I did not accuse Phyllis of belonging to the “Wrong note” school. I only thought, as she was a most intelligent knowledgeable young lady and I am well-known to be the most illiterate musician alive, she probably knew more about it that I did.1
Yours sincerely,
RVW

(R. Vaughan Williams).

Allan Frank, Esq.,
O.U.P.,
38a Soho Square,
London, W.1.

1. See VWL4308. VW had asked Alan Frank and Phyllis Tate to suggest some atonal music for him to study.
