Dorking
May 3 [1950]
Dear Mr & Mrs Sheppard
We were very glad to have your letter & 3 days later came your parcel of rare things – It must worry you not to have the certainty that you can go on living in the White Cottage – but I believe nothing can dismay one of you! – My husband’s early opera “Hugh the Drover” is being given on May 9 at Sadlers Wells – A new conductor and it is going to be done as never before.1 He is well – and I must tell you how much he is enjoying the S. African fruits – but I feel you ought to be saving everything you can for yr coming to England.
All affectionate wishes,
Yrs
Adeline VW
Addressed to: Mr & Mrs Sheppard, The White Cottage, Bergvliet Farm, Heathfield, C.P. South Africa
