Dear Shaw
I am quite ashamed of my self for not writing before.  I have been away over competitions – I did go to your show before your letter came.  I thought the music quite splendid – almost all of it – the ‘plantation’ tunes especially – the other dances etc I did not so much care for – but that was not really your fault because valses & things were quite out of place in the scheme.
I notice that the only thing which I thought on the whole not worthy of you was singled out for especial praise by the press!
