I know musical journalism is a dead-end. But, all the same, will you allow a budding musical journalist to come to you for advice and (if he is worthy) assistance?

He has the makings of a good musician & knows quite a lot, he writes well, though too prolix at present – at all events he has a lot to say. He was a student in Ford motorworks – dropped it all for music, whereupon his rich relations dropped him. He has done all sorts of things – He has washed down cars in a garage & is now in a horrible job, spying on fraudulent cinema managers at 35/ a week.
I believe he is worth helping – & have told him to ask for an appointment – but I have warned him that you may refuse to see him
