Dorking.
Feb 9 [1945]
Dear Martin,
At last have been able to play (?) right through the “Redeemer”. It is a noble work and ought to be done every year where.
I am furious because the BBC are doing it on the same day and hour as my performance of the Matthew Passion at Dorking Church.1
My love to Joan. I do hope she is better. What lovely words she has found for you.
Yours
R.V.W.
But Adeline is going to listen.
1. The concert (at St. Martin’s Church, Dorking) and broadcast (from somewhere in or near Huddersfield) both took place on the afternoon of Saturday 10 March 1945.
