Another exquis day & I am convinced the open windows & sunshine is doing more for me than anything.
Wicked of you to send Turkey – quite different from R’s but bound to be delish. R has a quiet day at home & is more recovered from his London day – that is a strain – I think he inwardly is acting every part – Simple satisfies him.1 He is always in character.

You know that there is the usual humdrum lunch going on here on Sat for R – and Lettice – lunch at the canteen – & have tea there too with all the artists2 – but tea will be here for you and anyone who can come.

Sorry about Ox – Remember to get dried milk this week.
1. VW was preparing for the first professional performance of Sir John in Love at Sadler’s Wells Theatre on 9 April. The character of Peter Simple was played by William Herbert.
2. Probably relating to the Dorking Bach Choir or the Leith Hill Musical Festival. Lettice was the wife of Adeline’s brother Herbert Fisher.
