R came back from Sadlers Wells1 a bit late as the driver (not Beagley) missed his way – he came in for the other caste2 & not as good a one – the bird had a wobble – that was disappointing – but he met several people & he & Fanny had a nice tea at the Ballerina.3

Joanna4 is to be out in 10 days – R met Mr Irving5 last night – one can’t imagine its being a success. Irving told Fanny that R’s music was more Romney Marsh than Romney Marsh.
