Date estimated; Schwiller led the orchestra in a performance of Bach’s St John Passion in February 1950, but VW had also conducted the work in 1946 with the Dorking Bach Choir (see Eric Saylor, Vaughan Williams (O.U.P., 2022), p.183, and in April 1923 at the Leith Hill Festival with a small group drawn from the Bach Choir.
