Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Gerald Finzi
Letter No.: VWL3411
From R. Vaughan Williams,
10, Hanover Terrace,
Regents Park,
London, N.W.1.
May 31st 1956.
Dear Gerald,
On the advice of my accountant I have decided [to] use the money coming from my performing fees to endow a fund for the benefit of music and musicians to be administered by a special Committee under the general auspices of the Musicians Benevolent Fund.1
I should be very grateful if you could consent to be a member of this Committee.
Arrangements are not yet finally completed, and may indeed take some further time. In the meanwhile I should be grateful if you would not mention the arrangement to anyone else.
I do not anticipate that the Committee would have to meet very often.
Yours,
Ralph Vaughan Williams
