Dear Mr. White,

We enjoyed your visit as much as you tell me you did, and I think our talk was useful.
With regard to your three categories for “Pilgrim’s Progress”¹ – In No. 2 the reduced orchestra should only come as a last resort and I think it should be taken for granted at present that there will be a full orchestra for this half-and-half performance.
I ought to explain, perhaps, that Dr. Hadley has made no sort of suggestion about a production yet, apart from his own personal wishes and has not mentioned the idea to anyone else as far as I know.²
