Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Robert Müller-Hartmann

Letter No.: VWL2952

The White Gates,
Dorking,

17th February, 1949.

Dear Müller Hartmann,

I wonder if you would consider making a German translation of my Opera “Pilgrim’s Progress”. There is no performance, alas, in view, but I think a German translation might possibly lead to a performance abroad.
Will you let me know what you think about it?
A lot of words are straight out of “Bunyan”, and I think there is already an existing translation of that which might help you; and a lot is out of the Bible.
Yrs

R. Vaughan Williams
