[4 June 1954]

Thank you so much.  I have written to Mrs Davies to ask for a room for 13th. & we should love to dine with you.1  As Ralph is conducting Hodie2 I think he’ll probably be better having a quiet, cannonical3 scrambled egg before.4
Do you mean Hodie at Worcester – or at the RCM.5 rehearsals?  Of course, either or both.
So glad you will be about in July.

Love from us both

Ursula.

1. Mrs Davies was the proprietress of the Ellenborough Hotel in Cheltenham, where the VWs hoped to stay in order to attend the performance of Stanley Bate’s Symphony  on 14th July – see VWL2824.
2. Catalogue of Works 1954/3.
3.  sic.
4.  The VWs were going to stay with Canon and Mrs George W. Briggs in Worcester, where Briggs was a canon at the cathedral.
5.  Royal College of Music. Rehearsals for Hodie, to be premiered at Worcester at the Three Choirs Festival in September, were presumably at both locations.
